India Tourism Statistics 2022: Most Popular Destinations In Country
Maharashtra followed by Tamil Nadu registered the highest number of foreign tourists in 2021, as per the latest report by Union Tourism Ministry.
The Ministry released the list titled 'India Tourism Statistics 2022'.
The report was released by Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar in New Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan.
Foreign tourist arrivals declined by 44.5% to 1.52 million in 2021 as compared to 2.74 million in 2020.
The Taj Mahal secured its place among the 10 most popular centrally-protected ticketed monuments for 2021-22.
Mughal-era mausoleum secured the first rank in the list of most popular centrally-protected ticketed monuments for 2021-22.
Mughal-era mausoleum is followed by the Red Fort and the Qutub Minar, New Delhi.
On the domestic tourist inflow front, India registered a growth of 11.05% in 2021 compared to the previous year.
As per domestic tourist data in the states, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh received the highest visitors with 140.65 million and 86.12 million, respectively.
