Mulayam Singh Yadav passes away: Take a look his political career
Mulayam Singh Yadav passed away at the age of 82.
Born in the Etawah district, he was raised in a poor family.
He wanted to become a wrestler but got a master's degree in political science. He got involved in politics at the age of 15.
He was inspired by Ram Manohar Lohiya's idea of socialism.
He won a seat in the UP assembly before being arrested for 19 months during the Emergency.
In 1989, he won the UP elections and became the CM after Janata Dal got outside support form BJP.
He founded Samajwadi Party in October 1992 and came in the support of Muslim minorities after the Babri Masjid demolition.
In 1996 he won a seat in the Lok Sabha and also came to becoming PM of India.
He has served three times as the CM of Uttar Pradesh.
