Veteran comedian Raju Srivastava, who had been a patient at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), passed away at the age of 58

On August 10, Raju Srivastava experienced a heart attack and required hospitalisation after reporting chest pains while using a treadmill at the gym

The following day, he also had an angioplasty

At AIIMS, Delhi, Raju Srivastava was being kept alive by a machine

After 15 days of ventilator support, the comic regained consciousness

On September 1, however, he was once more placed on ventilator support after developing a fever as high as 100 degrees

Since the late 1980s, Raju has worked in the entertainment sector

In 2005, he took part in the inaugural season of the stand-up comedy programme "The Great Indian Laughter Challenge," for which he was recognised

He has appeared in movies like "Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon," "Aamdani Atthanni Kharcha Rupaiya," and "Maine Pyar Kiya," among others
