Take A Look At PM Modi Strolling On INS Vikrant
PM Modi commissioned India's first indigenously built aircraft carrier INS Vikrant on Friday at Kochi.
PM Modi was seen enjoying a stroll on the flight deck of INS Vikrant.
Mr. Modi was accompanied by Defence Minster Rajnath Singha, NSA Ajeet Doval, and senior navy officers.
INS Vikrant is 262.5 metre long and 62.5 metre wide.
The journey to building India's Ist aircraft began with the steel cutting process that started on 11 April 2005.
Before the delivery of INS Vikrant to the Indian Navy, the Rigorous Sea Trials were done between August 2021 to July 2022.
The aircraft carrier is loaded with two self-protection systems, including Kavach Chaff Decoy System and Torpedo Decoy System.
Total of 30 fighter jets and helicopters can be operated on INS Vikrant.
India now has two aircraft carriers -- INS Vikrant and another Russian-built INS Vikramaditya.
