What is Sengol? Check out its historical significance

PM Modi installed the historical sceptre 'sengol' in Lok Sabha.

Accompanied by Lok Sabha speaker OM Birla, the PM began the inauguration of the new parliament building.

PM Modi bowed down in respect and received the sacred sengol.

The sceptre was initially handed over to India's first PM, Jawaharlal Nehru, to transfer power from the Britishers.

Around 30 pontiffs from varied Adheenams of Tamil Nadu handed over the sengol to PM Modi.

The Sengol marks divine power, sovereignty, and a sense of equal opportunity.

The gold coated 'sengol' word is derived from the Tamil word 'semmai', which means 'righteousness'.

The Nandi crowned on top of the sengol symbolizes 'nyaya'.

Until now, it has been showcased at a museum in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
