Dhaka: At least 26 people have been killed in hilly districts of south eastern Bangladesh due to landslides caused by incessant rains yesterday.
While 10 people died in Rangamati, 7 were killed in Bandarban and 4 in Chittagong. The deceased include women and children.
Two more are reportedly missing and rescue operations are going on amidst heavy rains triggered by a depression in the Bay of Bengal.
Yesterday’s rains have inundated large parts of Chittagong with people having to navigate waist-deep water for their daily chores.
