New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) made an announcement on Thursday responding to a petition by class 10 and 12 students to cancel this year’s board exams. The Board confirmed that this year’s board exams for students of class 10 and 12 will be conducted as per the schedule as the first exam is on May 4, 2021.
Board exams for class 10 and 12 students will commence in less than month’s time. Although, many students, teachers and even parents are requesting the central government to cancel the exams due to the rapid rise in the Covid-19 cases.
Earlier it was reported that an online petition has been signed by approximately one lakh students of classes 10 and 12 seeking cancellation of this year’s CBSE Board Exams.

A senior CBSE official gave said to PTI, “With Covid guidelines in place, the exam centres across the country have been increased by 40-50 per cent to ensure social distancing among students during the exam.”
CBSE also said that the board is taking all measures for conducting the Board Exams 2021 during the Covid-19 pandemic. Students of classes 10 and 12 who couldn’t give the practical exams will be given a second chance.

In its latest circular, CBSE said, “if any candidate is absent in practical because of being Covid positive or any family member reported Covid positive, the school will conduct the practical exams of such candidates at an appropriate time in consultation with the concerned regional office but latest by June 11.”
