New Delhi: India is a country where we meet people from different diversities, who represent their religion, ideas, languages, and beliefs.
In this vast country Bollywood plays an important role, it not only aware audience but also helps them shape their opinion. Through Bollywood now we are talking on that topic which was earlier unnoticed.
Today Bollywood movies have a wide coverage not only in India but outside India too.
Cinema is a source of entertainment, but directors script movies and characters which portray stereotypes. Because according to them audience loves such characters.
- Every police officer is usually named ‘Shinde’ or ‘Tanbe’- Every character can change or leave but Shinde/Tambe stays and ironically they are blessed with good humor and cracks good jokes.
- Small City means Lucknow/Kanpur/Banaras: Whether it is Jolly LLB2, Pati Patni Aur Tanu Weds Manu Returns, if they are saying they are visiting their village then it goes without that either of the places is their home place or oops village.
- Bollywood and their strongest bond with Punjabis and NRI Punjabi- Well most of the Punjabis are rich and go abroad. After coming back to India they start showing their tantrums and of course, Most of them belong to the UK and Canada.
According to movies Punjabis believe in dancing and rolling 24/7 with the peg on the floors. Whether it is ‘ Namastey London’, Monsoon Wedding, Bend It Like Beckham. All these movies promote this stereotype.
- If you are obese that means you will be a hopeless romantic: From Kal ho Na ho to Ujda Chaman. Bollywood leaves no chance to humiliate obese people.
Instead of telling them that they are beautiful the way they are, movies make it hard for them to accept that even they can get the desired partner because they are perfect the way they are!
