Kajol’s Holi message on ‘Save water’ kicks off storm on Twitter, know why

New Delhi: The festival of colours, Holi was celebrated across India on March 18. This is one of the most awaited festivals and people from all age groups enjoy playing with all sorts of colours and gulal. Another speciality about Holi is feeding oneself with sweet delicacies. It’s a fun festival that is celebrated with family, friends and near and dear ones.

From early morning warm wishes popped on the social media pages from friends, families, and even from Bollywood stars. Several actors and actresses send out Happy Holi wishes and vibes on their social media accounts. However, what gathered the attention of netizens was the message sent across by Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge-actress, Kajol.

Kajol took to Twitter to spread the message of happy and safe Holi. With that, she appealed to all her followers and fans to be considerate of the water usage on this special occasion. She posted a video where she was heard saying, “Wishing everyone a very very happy holi and safe holi, most importantly. So save water and play holi with whatever you feel like but have a happy and safe holi.”

However, the message did not come with great acceptance as netizens took it as a topic for trolling. The netizens started digging movie clips to troll her. One of the users said, “Save water on Holi so @itsKajolD can use truckfuls of it for rain songs in her films,” while another one wrote, “#Kajol you have given the knowledge to save water on Holi, first explain to your husband who promotes gutka, only Indian Railways spends 120 crores every year to clean the stains of gutka, then due to gutka in the whole country, water and money are needed. think of a waste.”

Kajol made her OTT debut last year with the movie Tribhanga.  She was critically acclaimed for portraying the role of a woman with a traumatic childhood. The movie also starred Tanvi Azmi and Mithila Palkar in pivotal roles.
