New Delhi: Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ has been in the headlines for a long time now. This time Mukesh Khanna aka Shaktimaan took on the film when he was asked about its run at the box office. Mukesh Khanna shared his views on the ‘Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha’ trend on the internet.
During a media interaction, Khanna was asked about ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ heading towards a flop and the reason for the same being bad content or the boycott trend. To this, the actor replied that it is a ‘slightly critical case’. He mentioned that the film was boycotted even before people saw it and laid a comparison with other films like ‘Padmavat’, ‘Lakshmi’ and ‘Tandav’, which also faced a boycott trend.
“It seems as if it is early morning when you wake up. The Hindu people have suddenly woken up,” Mukesh Khanna added. He also talked about ‘Dangal’ going unaffected and doing good business at the box office. He further went on to say that he is confused about whether the film has worked or not. For him, the film is more about a personality rather than a producer putting in some money.
Talking about religious sentiments being hurt, which was the basis of the boycott trend, he said, “So-called directors, producers and households became overconfident that religious sentiments are a soft target. Hit it a punch. There will be a little commotion, then our film will go on. That is why it is very important to stop this trend. You cannot target only one particular religion.”
‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ has earned around Rs 45.83 crore in five days with just Rs 2 crore collected on day 5. This could be a matter of concern for the producers as the film has failed to reach the Rs 50 crore mark even after five days. Moreover, there are shows which are getting cancelled as people are not showing up for the film.
The film is directed by Advait Chandan and stars Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan in lead roles. Apart from them the film also features film stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Mona Singh, Manav Vij and Naga Chaitanya Akkineni.
