New Delhi: Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 by Mani Ratnam is doing really well at the box office throughout the world. In barely three days, the film reached Rs 150 crore worldwide. Aside from doing well at the local box office, the movie is also doing well internationally. At this pace, Lyca Productions’ investment in the film will be profitable. However, the movie has elicited polarising reactions from moviegoers and critics alike.
Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 hit theatres on April 28 amid high anticipation. The film was released in five Indian languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The movie has made Rs 150 crore globally in only three days, according to trade expert Ramesh Bala. It would be interesting to watch how the movie does throughout the weekdays.

According to trade expert Manobala Vijayabalan, the film outperformed Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna’s Varisu in terms of opening day performance.

Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 is doing really well in North America. In just three days, the picture grossed nearly $3 million which is about Rs 24 crore.
Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan is a historical drama directed by him. The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s well-known Tamil literary novel of the same name. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, and Jayam Ravi star in the mega-budget flick. The first part grossed more than Rs 500 crore globally. AR Rahman is being recognised for his work on Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2. The work of cinematographer Ravi Varman and editor Sreekar Prasad has also been appreciated. The movie is also marks Aishwarya Rai’s second movie alongside Vikram, following the 2010 film Raavan, which was directed by Mani Ratnam.
