    New Delhi: Tamil cinema’s sensation Trisha Krishnan turned 40 on May 4, which is, today. Winning beauty pageants in the 90s to ruling the Tamil cinema as a prominent lead, Trisha has made a mark in the entertainment industry. She was last seen in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2′, which is running in the cinemas now.

    Born on 4 May 1983, Trisha has emerged as one of the most loved actors and has built a pan-India fan following. From ’96’ to ‘PS-2’, take a look at her five films to watch:

    1. 96

    C Prem Kumar’s ’96’ starring Trisha and Vijay Sethupathi is an innocent love story showing two high school students reuniting after 22 years. The impactful yet subtle performances by Trisha and Vijay won everyone’s hearts and the 2018 film is still widely loved not just in Tamil Nadu but across India.

    Trisha playing Janaki is undoubtedly her career-best performance and the audience showered a lot of love for the on-screen couple. The film is streaming on MX Player.

    2. Kodi

    Dhanush and Trisha starrer ‘Kodi’ followed two young politicians competing against each other while being romantically involved together.     3. Ponniyin Selvan

    Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, an adaptation of Kalki’s novel, stars Trisha as Kundavai where the actor got to play another character holding some power and control. She revealed that she followed the late CM Jayalalitha to portray Kundavai. Fans are praising her for her performance and the actor looks ever-stunning in the royal avatar.

    The film also stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi in prominent roles. ‘PS-2’ was released on April 28 in cinemas.

    4. Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya

    ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya’ is a must-watch love story between a filmmaker and a Christian woman which brings out the themes of heartbreak. The chemistry between Silambarasan and Trisha is something to look out for and Trisha’s portrayal of Jessie was widely lauded after the release. Written and directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon, ‘Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya’ is one of the films that brought out the best in Trisha.

    5. Thoongavanam

    The crime-thriller follows a cop, with connection with the underworld, caught stealing cocaine. While veteran actors Kamal Haasan and Prakash Raj were in the lead, Trisha emerged as the shining star with her action. Directed by Rajesh M Selva, the 2015 film showed Trisha’s fierce avatar.

    New Delhi: Ponniyin Selvan 2 hits the theater on April 28, making it big for the South film industry. The Vikram starrer film crosses the box office collection of 100 crores in just the fourth day of its release. The film is soaring on the internet and people are loving part 2 of the epic saga. As per the estimates, the film earned 23.05 crore on day four of its release, and with this, it touched the 100 crore club.

    There was no doubt about Mani Ratnam’s epic drama Ponniyin Selvan Part 2, as Part 1 was the highest-grossing film in the Tamil industry for the year 2022. Now the sequel has proven the same, despite facing competition from Salman starrer ‘Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’. It is being predicted that the film will soon cross the bar of 200 crores as well. The historic drama, made Vikram and Aishwarya collaborate for the second time, the first time they collaborated was in the year 2010 for the film Ravana along with Abhishek Bachchan.

     

    The movie features Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyan Vikram, Trisha, and Jayam Ravi in the key roles. Part 2 of the Ponniyin Selvan is based on the novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy written in the year 1995. In the movie,  Jayam Ravi is portraying the role of the great Chola king Rajaraja 1. Aishwarya Rai was seen playing the dual role of Queen Nandini and Omai Rani. Queen Nandini is the love interest of Aditha played by Chiyaan Vikram. Aditha is the elder brother of Rajaraja Chola and Trisha played the role of Chola princess Kundavai. The music of the movie is given by legendary composer AR Rehmaan.

    New Delhi: Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 by Mani Ratnam is doing really well at the box office throughout the world. In barely three days, the film reached Rs 150 crore worldwide. Aside from doing well at the local box office, the movie is also doing well internationally. At this pace, Lyca Productions’ investment in the film will be profitable. However, the movie has elicited polarising reactions from moviegoers and critics alike.

    Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 hit theatres on April 28 amid high anticipation. The film was released in five Indian languages: Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The movie has made Rs 150 crore globally in only three days, according to trade expert Ramesh Bala. It would be interesting to watch how the movie does throughout the weekdays.


    According to trade expert Manobala Vijayabalan, the film outperformed Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna’s Varisu in terms of opening day performance.

    Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2 is doing really well in North America. In just three days, the picture grossed nearly $3 million which is about Rs 24 crore.

    Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan is a historical drama directed by him. The film is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s well-known Tamil literary novel of the same name. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Chiyaan Vikram, Trisha, Karthi, and Jayam Ravi star in the mega-budget flick. The first part grossed more than Rs 500 crore globally. AR Rahman is being recognised for his work on Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2. The work of cinematographer Ravi Varman and editor Sreekar Prasad has also been appreciated. The movie is also marks Aishwarya Rai’s second movie alongside Vikram, following the 2010 film Raavan, which was directed by Mani Ratnam.

Mani Ratnam’s directed PS 2 has made the public to share their reactions on the social media platforms. The grand budget movie has been creating a huge buzz with its superhit star cast, rigorous promotions, and the worth appreciating acting by Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya rai Bachchan and the entire cast.

    The Ponniyin Selvan 2 is based on a 1955 novel by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The first part of the movie was released last year when it crossed all the box office records. For a long time, people have been waiting for the second part of the movie and it has already swept the micro-blogging site Twitter with people sharing their reactions and love for the film.     New Delhi: Trisha Krishnan posted a photo on social media sites with acclaimed filmmaker Mani Ratnam from the filming location of their forthcoming film ‘Ponniyin Selvan 2’. Ponniyin Selvan, the upcoming sequel of the Tamil film franchise, will be released in theatres globally on April 28, 2023.

    There is no question that Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus film will transport you back in time and allow you to watch the beautiful historical drama firsthand. Prior to this, the ‘Khatta Meetha’ actress shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Instagram. In the picture, Trisha, who portrays Princess Kundavai, is dressed as her character as Mani Ratnam explains the action. She captioned the photo, “PS-I love you.”

    Trisha’s followers and industry colleagues weighed in as soon as the photo was posted. “No…I Love PS!!!” wrote Sobhita Dhulipala.

    The historical movie is centered on Kalki Krishnamurthy’s 1955 Tamil novel of the same title, which tells the narrative of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most influential rulers in the south who went on to succeed Rajaraja Chola I, the great Chola ruler. The trailer for Ponniyin Selvan 2 was just released in Chennai. Stars such as Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha Krishnan, Jayam Ravi, and Sobhita Dhulipala walked the red carpet. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan plays both Nandini and the mysterious Mandakini, who tries to save Jayam Ravi’s Ponniyin Selvan at the conclusion of the first film.


    ‘PS 2’ is the follow-up to Mani Ratnam’s box office smash Ponniyin Selvan, which debuted last year. Vikram and Trisha Krishnan appear in the flick. The primary actors are Karthik Sivakumar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Jayam Ravi.

Viduthalai is an action drama about a police officer who gets hired to apprehend the leader of a separatist gang.
