New Delhi: Varun Dhawan, the versatile actor known for his diverse roles in Bollywood, is set to make his foray into the world of OTT with the eagerly anticipated series “Citadel,” directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK. Amidst his busy schedule, Varun recently discussed the possibility of starring in a sports biopic and praised the late Sushant Singh Rajput’s performance in “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story.”

With a string of successful films like “Student of the Year,” “October,” “Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania,” “Badlapur,” “Bhediya,” and more, Varun Dhawan has carved a niche for himself in the Indian film industry. His impeccable acting prowess has garnered widespread acclaim.

In a recent interview with News18, Varun Dhawan shared his perspective on portraying a cricketer in a biographical film. As cricket continues to captivate the nation, the prospect of cricketer biopics has gained traction within the industry.

Varun expressed his apprehension, saying, “I’m very nervous to do a biopic of a cricketer. I love the game so much, I don’t want to get it right only synthetically. If I do, then I will need to give it 3-4 years and only do that.”

Reflecting on “MS Dhoni: The Untold Story,” which featured Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role, Varun Dhawan praised the film, stating, “I think it was one of the best biopics made, and the way Sushant (Singh Rajput) played the role was really great.”

Regarding his upcoming project, “Citadel,” which is an Indian adaptation of the espionage action series developed by AGBO and helmed by the Russo brothers, Varun Dhawan spoke highly of his co-star Samantha Ruth Prabhu. He emphasized their commitment to delivering exceptional performances, stating, “The makers are pushing the envelope. Samantha and I can’t be doing something mediocre. She is one of the hardest working actors.”

“Citadel” promises to be an intense and action-packed series, adding to Varun Dhawan’s diverse portfolio of work. The original series features Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in prominent roles.

In addition to his OTT debut, Varun Dhawan is currently occupied with the filming of “VD18,” directed by Atlee Kumar, the same director behind “Jawan.” Fans eagerly anticipate the release of this upcoming film, expected to hit screens soon.
