New Delhi: The journey to one of the most famous film festivals, the Cannes Film Festival, has officially begun in Cannes, France. As the biggest names from across the world prepare to walk the red carpet, the French Riviera town aims to return to its typical raucous celebrations. Many Bollywood stars will walk in the film festival, including Deepika Padukone, Kangana Ranaut, and Sonam Kapoor, and fans are excited to see what they have in store for them in terms of fashion. Though our Bollywood actors enjoy drama and larger-than-life shapes, there have been countless occasions when they have represented the country by wearing sarees.
1. Sonam Kapoor:
Sonam’s favourite look at Cannes came from Anamika Khanna’s shelves once again. She donned an intricately embroidered salmon pink cape-style tulle saree, a matching top, and a dramatic choker. As the years went, Sonam continued to play with the silhouette, as evidenced by her metallic blue sculptural drape from Rimzim Dadu and the pastel trouser saree from Masaba Gupta.
2. Kangana Ranaut:
Kangana Ranaut represented India at the annual Cannes Film Festival for two years and did not miss an opportunity to bring elements of Indian fashion to the French Riviera town both times. Kangana looked like a throwback queen when she walked the red carpet in a Sabyasachi Mukherjee black hand-cut sequinned saree and matching sleeveless top in 2018. She accessorised with a potli purse and a vintage-inspired hairstyle.
3. Deepika Padukone:
While Deepika Padukone’s appearances at Cannes are often associated with her neon green Giambattista Valli gown and the Ashi Studio fuchsia pink gown, few are aware that she first attended the annual festival in 2010. Deepika had graced the red carpet for the 63rd edition of the film festival in an ivory and gold saree by designer Rohit Bal, poised and stunning as ever. A sleek bun, tiny gold diamonds, and an embellished sleeveless top completed her ensemble.
4. Vidya Balan:
Vidya Balan’s saree obsession has resulted in some of Bollywood’s most memorable fashion moments. Her presence at Cannes also makes this list. Vidya donned Sabyasachi Mukherjee for all of her red carpet looks at the event in the French Riviera resort, and the results were timeless. Vidya is dressed in a green silk saree with a crimson top and intricate gold jewellery in the first photo. She also wore a red tulle saree with a full-sleeved matching red blouse, pearl necklace, and minimal accessories, as well as a white and gold drape with a black blouse.
5. Daina Penty:
Diana Penty wore a bold saree at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival. The actress wore a couturier Amit Aggarwal pearl-white saree outfit. Diana wore a contemporary pearl necklace, matched earrings, bold red lips, and a braided updo to maintain with the all-white theme.
