Armed forces veterans slam Rahul Gandhi over his ‘ill-conceived’ statements on India-China stand-off

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s criticism of Modi government over its handling of Eastern Ladakh stand-off has not gone down well with the Armed forces veterans.

Taking strong exception to Rahul’s ‘ill-timed and ill-conceived’ statements and tweets on India-China border dispute, the Army veterans issued a press statement and slammed the Congress leader as well as the party for not according ‘due importance’ to the national issue.

“Congress, as the party that ruled India for the longest period, is squarely responsible for neglecting the border infrastructural development during it’s more than half a century rule,” Army veterans said in the statement.

The veterans who put out a statement on the ongoing dispute with China include Lt Gen JBS Yadav (Retd), Lt Gen HS Kanwar (Retd), Lt Gen R N Singh (Retd), Lt Gen S K Patyal (Retd), Lt Gen Nitin Kohli (Retd), Maj Gen P.K. Mullick VSM (Retd), Lt Gen VK Chaturvedi (Retd), Lt Gen Sunit Kumar (Retd) & Maj Gen M Srivastava (Retd).

Veterans back Modi govt’s ‘tactful handling’ of border dispute

The Army veterans supported Modi government’s handling of the border situation, saying that current dispensation is dealing very deftly diplomatically and supporting armed forces in resolutely protecting our borders.

“Due to firm and tactful handling of the situation by the Government of India, China has revised its stand and stated that they don’t have any differences on boundary issues”, said the statement.
