New Delhi: A report by a leading daily about the likely abolition of the Ministry of Minority Affairs on Monday got the Twitter talking.
However, the Press Information Bureau (PIB), a govt body to dispel fake information, today busted the false claims of Centre mulling abolition of the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
The PIB in its fact check termed the news report of scrapping of Ministry of Minority Affairs as fake and also stated that no such proposal is under consideration.

Deccan Herald reported that the Centre is likely to scrap the Ministry that was formed by the UPA government in 2006 and it will be merged with the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, citing sources.
It also said that all schemes run by the Ministry of Minority Affairs will continue to run under the new mechanism.
The Ministry of Minority Affairs is currently headed by Union Minister Smriti Irani. Prior to her, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi was at the helm but recently he resigned from the position after expiry of his term as Rajya Sabha member.
The Minority Affairs Ministry was was carved out of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment by the Congress-led UPA government for focused approach towards minorities.
