Independence Day: Full dress rehearsal held, rare view of jawans marching in mask (VIDEO)

In its advisory, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has said that this year's programs should be organized in a way that large congregation of people is avoided and technology is used in the best possible manner for celebrating the occasion.

New Delhi: Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, a complete dress rehearsal was held at the iconic Red Fort in the national capital.

In wake of the Coronavirus epidemic, the rehearsal for Independence Day wore a different look as the personnel wore mask and observed social distancing while marching to the tune of band.

In its advisory, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has said that this year’s programs should be organized in a way that large congregation of people is avoided and technology is used in the best possible manner for celebrating the occasion.

Amid the downpour in the national capital, tri-Service bands along with jawans marched during the full dress rehearsals today for the 74th Independence Day celebrations at Red Fort in New Delhi.

Independence Day Celebrations

As per the MHA order, the Independence Day celebrations in Delhi shall consist of the main event which includes the presentation of a Guard of Honour by the Armed Forces and the Delhi Police to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Red Fort.

Then, PM Modi will hoist the tricolour accompanied by playing of the National Anthem and firing of 21-gun salute, followed by PM’s address to the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. The tri-coloured balloons will be released at the end.

In view of Covid-19 situation, Delhi police has requested the invitees to follow guidelines issued by the Home Ministry and Health Ministry while they are in the function area at Red Fort.
