New Delhi: The Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) University on Monday revoked the admission of activist & Delhi riots accused Safoora Zargar, who was arrested in 2020 for alleged involvement in violence & mayhem in the capital.
Her admission was reportedly cancelled based on ‘unsatisfactory progress’ in the dissertation work. The 29-year-old was booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) over her role in the North-East Delhi riots.
Zargar is currently enrolled with Jamia’s Department of Sociology in integrated MPhil/PhD programme.
Safoora took to Twitter to express her disappointment.

Earlier, Safoora tweeted that she had sought extension of her Mphil thesis submission but she was denied the same by the administration.
Responding to her charge, Jamia Millia Islamia said in a statement, “Her progress report by the supervisor was unsatisfactory. The scholar did not apply for extension as a woman scholar before the expiry of stipulated maximum period.”
