In February, the Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board accepted the five acres of land provided for construction of the mosque in Ayodhya.
The areas in proximity of the university have been declared hotspots and sealed and the university said that it will become difficult to maintain logistics and manpower requirements in future.
According to police, riots broke out "in consequence to the protest march organised by Jamia students" against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act in the area of New Friends Colony and Jamia on December last year.
The university further said that classes have already been suspended till March 31 "which may be further extended if the epidemic is not contained".
"JCC is actually a Joint Coordination Committee of students and alumni of Jamia Millia Islamia," he said, adding that any communication from JCC should not be taken as communication from the varsity.
The firing incident was reported near gate number five at the university following which people including some students of the varsity gathered outside the Jamia Nagar police station.
The protest comes in wake of the Jamia firing incident, where a person brandished a gun in presence of heavy police force deployment and fired towards the marching Jamia Millia Islamia university students.
