No compromise on zero tolerance, criminals won’t be spared no matter who they are: CM Yogi

CM said that free vaccines, free testing facilities, free treatment and free food grains was provided to every needy in the state

New Delhi: Reiterating his government’s resolve of ‘zero tolerance’ against crime and criminals, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Thursday, said that criminals, and corrupt elements will not be spared for creating nuisance, and obstructing development, irrespective of who they are. “Apradhi ko Patal se bhi nikal layenge (will drag criminals out of their dens),” remarked the CM.

The Chief Minister made the remark while launching nearly 47 development projects worth Rs 204 crore in the Mau district. “Previously, the presence of criminals, mafias and their henchmen tarnished the image of Mau, stalled the development work here and utilised the funds meant for poor in building their own ‘havelis’ (palaces) and satisfying their interests,” said Yogi adding, “The talented youth of Mau, was made to struggle before 2017.”

Among the launched projects, 32 projects worth Rs 161 crore were of the Animal Husbandry Department, Public Works Department, Technical Education Department, Jal Nigam, among others, while the foundation stone for as many as 15 projects worth Rs 42 crore was also laid.

The CM on the occasion went on to say that under PM Modi’s visionary leadership, the Indian economy has overtaken Britain’s economy that once ruled India. “Today, there is no such area where India is not being seen leading the entire world. Similarly, the state of Uttar Pradesh is also progressing at a rapid pace to fulfil the commitments put forward by PM Modi,” said Yogi.

In Uttar Pradesh, the development projects, and welfare schemes for the poor are being implemented without any kind of discrimination to ensure all-around growth of the state, he added.

Yogi further said that the Purvanchal Expressway connecting Mau to the state capital will ensure that the talented youth of Mau does not have to struggle for getting employment, and rather creates employment opportunities for others. “Improved road network is not only necessary for better transportation, but also, through the creation of industrial clusters, will encourage the development of the district,” he said.

Maintaining that the BJP’s double-engine government worked dedicatedly to serve people during the Covid-19 pandemic, the CM said that free vaccines, free testing facilities, free treatment and free double-dose of foodgrains was provided to every needy in the state. “Under PM Modi’s guidance, India has even led world’s fight against Covid-19 by developing two of its own vaccines and over 200 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccines have been administered so far,” he said.

Slamming the previous governments, Yogi said, “earlier ‘roti, kapda aur makan’ were only promised in slogans, today, the people are getting free electricity connections, free gas connections, homes under PM Awas and CM Awas Yojana as well as the needy, women and divyang are getting pensions on time.”

Highlighting his government’s achievements, the Chief Minister said that in the last five years despite the Covid-19 pandemic, 5 lakh youths have been given government jobs in the state, while about 1.61 crore youths have been provided job opportunities through various MSME units, industrial sectors, among others. Similarly, about 60 lakh craftsmen, and artisans were also connected with banks in a way to ensure their self-employment.

Stating that his government is constantly striving for the safety, respect, self-reliance and upliftment of youth, women, farmers, the CM said that the youth has been connected with schemes like PM startup, ODOP, Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana, among others. “The people together with the government will have to ensure that development of the state takes its finest shape and that every person is benefitted,” said the CM.

Emphasising the creation of proper medical and health facilities in the state, Yogi said, “Even after 70 years of independence, only 12 medical colleges existed, however, we built 35 new medical colleges in 5 years. About 14 districts that did not have their own medical colleges, like Ballia and Mau will soon have their own medical colleges.”

The CM also said that a comprehensive action plan should be formulated for all the sugar mills that have been shut down and work should be done to expand MSMEs and strengthen the youth of eastern Uttar Pradesh. “Our villages should become self-reliant for our cities, state and the country to prosper,” he said.

The CM also stressed the expansion of the Textile industry to create more and more employment opportunities and also called upon the people to work together with the government in making UP the number one economy in the country. “We have to move forward with a positive intent, eradicate crime and encourage investments to ensure development,” he said.

The Chief Minister during his visit to Mau also went for an on-ground inspection of ongoing projects in the district and took stock of under-construction residential buildings in the Police Line.
