Pappu trends on Twitter; netizens slam Rahul Gandhi for supporting Hitler

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday gave a new reason to many people on the internet for launching a scathing attack on him for his remark on Nazi leader Adolf Hitler. Addressing a press conference at the AICC headquarters before launching a nationwide protest against price rise, Gandhi said we are witnessing the ”death of democracy”.

He added that the ruling camp is winning many elections and compared it to Hitler’s rule. He said, ”Hitler too used to win elections. How did he use to do it? He had control of all of Germany’s institutions…”

”Give me the entire system, then I will show you how elections are won,” added the Congress leader.

Soon after his remark on the current government, netizens started criticising him under the hashtag, Pappu. Under the hashtag, people shared many messages and memes.

”Now he is explaining how his Grandmother #IndiraGandhi maintained Democracy by imposing Emergency in 1975,” wrote a user on Twitter.

”The third generation of #Hitler labelling others Hitler. So: Hey #RahulGandhi , Hitler tera baap, uski maa , uska baap. Khandani Hitler #Pappu,” wrote another user.

”The dynast गांधी परिवार snatched freedom and rights of every Indian is now lecturing about Democracy to the man who fought against emergency and became a Prime Minister by hard work. Tell about #EmergencyIsAmemory to Corrupt dynast #pappu,” commented a user.

”#RahulGandhi should realise that if he had spoken against Hitler like this,he would have been put in jail. In our democracy #Pappu sits in front of media & criticises the govt without fear! Pappu’s grandmother didn’t allow such freedom & was a dictator, pretending to be democratic,” read a tweet.
