New Delhi: The first day of polling in Punjab brings bad news for actor Sonu Sood on Sunday. Sood’s car was confiscated by the state police and he was sent back home, said Moga District PRO Pradbhdeep Singh.
The action was taken against the actor as he was trying to enter a polling booth. The district authority has also warned Sood of stepping out of his house.
The PRO Pradbhdeep Singh said, ”Action will be taken against him if he steps out of his house.”

Defending his action, Sood said he had gone to the booth as he got information that money was ”being distributed at some booths”.
He arrived at the booth to check the reality. ”It is our duty to go check and ensure fair elections. That’s why we had gone out.”
Sonu also said, ”We got to know of threat calls at various booths by the opposition, especially the people of Akali Dal.”

Sonu demanded that there should be fair polls.

It is important to note that the election in the Moga district is special for Sonu as his sister Malvika Sood is contesting from Moga.
She is fighting the election on the Congress’ ticket. Moga is the native place for Sonu and his sister.
The voting for the 117 seats in the Punjab assembly started at 8 am on Sunday. The counting of votes will begin on March 10.
According to the election commission, the state has recorded 34.10 per cent voter turnout till 1 pm.
In this election, 1304 candidates are contesting and their fate will be decided by over 2.14 crore voters.
