Ram Vilas Paswan cremated: At the Digha ghat, Chirag fainted after lighting the funeral pyre, but was saved from crashing on to the ground by his cousins who were beside him, helping him perform the rituals.

New Delhi: The last rites of LJP founder and Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan was performed with full state honours at Janardan Ghat on the banks of Ganga in Patna.

Chirag Paswan, son and current LJP chief of the veteran leader, performed his last rites.

The Guard of Honour was accorded by Jawans of Army, Navy and Air Force at the venue of the funeral. The State Police also accorded Guard of Honour.

Large crowd had gathered at the cremation site as thousands paid their last respects to a veteran politician. Thousands of his supporters participated in the funeral procession of the departed leader. His supporters chanted slogans in support of their leader.

Senior BJP leaders including Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi were present at the ghat to pay their last respects.

LJP chief Chirag Paswan fell unconscious after lighting the funeral pyre of his father Ram Vilas Paswan.

At the Digha ghat, Chirag fainted after lighting the funeral pyre, but was saved from crashing on to the ground by his cousins who were beside him, helping him perform the rituals.

Earlier today morning, he wailed inconsolably when BJP MP and former minister Ram Kripal Yadav, who has known Mr Chirag since he was a child, visited their Patna house.
