“Such dilution leads to impunity, erosion in…”: Central IAS Association expresses dismay on the release of Anand Mohan Singh

New Delhi: A day after the Bihar government’s law department issued a notification for the release of Anand Mohan Singh and 26 others, the  Central Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Association has expressesed its deep dismay over the decision.

Gangster-turned-politician Anand Mohan Singh, who was serving a life term for the murder of a Dalit IAS officer will be released after the Nitish Kumar led government in Bihar tweaked the Prison Manual, 2012, on April 10 by making changes to rule 481.

Here is what the IAS Association has said:

In 1994, IAS, G Krishnaiah, was beaten by the mob after being dragged out of his car. The mob who killed IAS was protesting against the murder of another gangster-politician belonging to Anand Mohan Singh’s party.

The mob who attacked G Krishnaiah was allegedly provoked by Anand Mohan Singh.

What Anand Mohan said:

Gangster turned politician, Anand Mohan said that prisoners who have been serving long prison sentences can be released.

He also said that those who are questioning the decision of his release can go to court. Mohan added that those opposing the decision are disrespecting the rule of law.
