New Delhi: In popular culture all across the world, body art like tattoos and piercings has become fairly popular. Either to create their own individuality or to showcase a favourite design, people get tattoos. Of course, they will also choose the person they feel the closest to. While most Indians choose westernised art for their tattoos, Firangis are fixated on using Sanskrit and Hindi ink.
A list of Hollywood stars with Indian writing, symbols, figures, or other Desi artwork on their skin:
1. Rihanna’s hand bears a henna tattoo:
Rihanna, a famous pop singer, enjoys getting tattoos. She is covered in tattoos from head to toe. Rihanna’s henna tattoo (a mehendi design) on her hand is the most exquisite tattoo she has ever had. A Sanskrit shlok from the sacred book Bhagwat Gita is also visible on the singer’s right side of her waist, just above the hip bone.
2. The Anuugacchati Pravaha tattoo on Russell Brand’s bicep:
Russell Brand, a stand-up comedian, also has a Sanskrit tattoo. The phrase “Anuugacchati Pravaha,” which loosely translates to “go with the flow,” is inked on Brand’s bicep. So awesome, yes?
3. A similar tattoo is on Katy Perry’s bicep:
The best-known song by American singer-songwriter Katy Perry is “Roar,” and like her ex-husband Russell Brand, she too got the Sanskrit phrase “Anuugacchati Pravaha” tattooed on her body. Additionally, it is right there where Brand is. They believe it is best to just go with the flow now that the ex-couple is no longer together.
4.Padma tattoo on Jessica Alba:
The Sanskrit word “padma” is written in the font you can see on American actress Jessica Alba’s wrist. For those who are unaware, it is a lotus. A lotus is the representation of Goddess Lakshmi, often known as the Goddess of Wealth, in Hindu mythology. Yes, we do say so.
5. The ‘Om’ tattoo on Venessa Hudgens fingers:
Actress Venessa Hudgens from High School Musical must have spent hours deciding on the design of her tattoo. Due to the manner in which it was done, Hudgens’ tattoo on her fingertips is pretty unique. An Om is produced when she clasps her hands together in the namastey stance.
