New Delhi: Cerebral Aneurysm, also known as brain aneurysm or an intracranial aneurysm is a ballooning arising from a weakened area in the wall of a blood vessel in the brain.
It is said that if the brain aneurysm expands and the blood vessel wall becomes too thin, the aneurysm will rupture and bleed into the space around the brain.
Symptoms of Cerebral Aneurysm or brain aneurysm?
If a person is suffering from brain aneurysm will only get to know about it when it ruptures. It is said that most brain aneurysms have no symptoms and are small in size so the individual might not feel it. Also, the bigger the aneurysms there is higher risk of rupture.
Although, there are not much symptoms of unruptured brain aneurysm but to name some-
- Pain in the eyes
- Headache
- Change in the vision
- Diminished eye movement
Also, the first evidence of brain aneurysm or cerebral aneurysm is most often a subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), this is caused due to rupture of the aneurysm. Some of the symptoms include-
- Extreme headache
- Neck becomes stiff
- Vomiting and Nausea
- Changes can be noticed in the mental status of the individual
- Individual may feel pain in specific areas such as the eyes
- Increase in blood pressure (High BP)
- Pain can be felt in the leg and back
- This can also lead to coma and death
Risk factors that can lead to this are:
- Smoking
- Drinking Alchohol
- If an individual is addicted to drugs such as amphetamine or cocaine
- High blood pressure
- Major head injury
- Dangerous infection
These are only risk factors that puts an individual at high risk but these do not necessarily cause the disease. It is said that an individual with one or more than one risk factors may never never develop the disease, while some may get the disease but they might not really know the risk factors.
