New Delhi: After getting a heartbreaking defeat against Argentina in the knockout stage, Australian players were spotted queued up outside Argentina players’ dressing room to get a selfie with Megastar striker Lionel Messi. A video has surfaced on social media where Australian players including Craig Goodwin, Keanu Baccus, Joel King, and Marco Tilio were seen waiting outside Argentina’s dressing room to get a picture with Messi.

The video shows all three players taking turns to get clicked with Lionel Messi as he comes out of the dressing room.

“Australian Players were Fanboying over Messi” the Twitter post read.

Since the video surfaced on Internet it has been continuously trending and has gone viral with more than 8.5 million views. It also got many reactions from the users.

“Who isn’t a fan of Messi, even Christiano Ronaldo is but he denies in Public” a user commented.

While another user replied “Afterall he is the legend ! The GOAT.”

Another user commented “Nothing concern them with sadness. Men just wanna snap with the greatness” amidst the reactions to this post are getting people are majorly appreciating such a gesture by the players and many users are also terming Messi as the greatest of all time.

A user even compared Messi’s fandom among his co-players to that of legendary cricketer MS Dhoni. “This video reminds me of how opponents click pics after the match with @msdhoni” a user tweeted.

Notably, Messi appeared in his 1000th match on Sunday and scored his 789th goal which came in the first half at Doha’s Ahmad bin Ali Stadium. Lionel Messi and Julian Alvarez each scored a goal to help Argentina beat Australia by 2-1 and qualify for the World Cup quarterfinals.

Moreover, with the loss in the knockout match against Argentina, Australia’s journey in FIFA World Cup 2022 is ended. Now, team Argentina is all set to go all the way with the Netherlands in the quarterfinal on Saturday, December 10.
