New Delhi: BCCI has announced All-India Senior Men Selection Committee appointments in their latest press release. Chetan Sharma will continue as the Chairman of the selection committee amid all the controversies around the committee being sacked. The selection committee now includes five members, namely, Chetan Sharma, Shiv Sunder Das, Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola and Sridharan Sharath.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) has made the appointments for the new selection committee. BCCI received around 600 applications for the five posts, out of which, CAC shortlisted 11 candidates for personal interviews (PI). Based on the PIs, the advisory committee made the recommendations for the selected candidates and also re-appointed Chetan Sharma as the chief.

Chetan Sharma was selected as the chairman of the selection committee in December 2020 and under him, the committee faced a backlash for lacking intent and not being able to deliver in the ICC tournaments. However, CAC was of the opinion that he should be given another tenure.

Last year in November, BCCI released the criteria for appointments which stated that a candidate should have played a minimum of seven Test matches or 30 First Class games or 10 ODIs and 20 First Class matches. The candidates also need to have retired from cricket at least five years ago.
