ICC Women’s Rankings: India retain 2nd spot in ODI, surpass New Zealand to grab 3rd spot in T20I

New Delhi: Indian women cricket team has surpassed New Zealand to take 3rd position in ICC Women’s T20I team rankings while retaining 2d spot in ODI rankings. The latest rankings were released by International Cricket Council (ICC) on Friday.

Australia continues to occupy top position in ICC Women’s Team Rankings for both ODIs and T20Is.
In other changes in the latest tally, South Africa has overtaken New Zealand to 4th place and Bangladesh have leapfrogged Sri Lanka to eighth in the ODI table.

Australia maintains a massive lead of 39 points over second-placed India. This comes on back of 3-0 series victory over India, Pakistan, New Zealand, England, West Indies, Sri Lanka and a 2-1 win over England at the start of the ICC Women’s Championship.

India (121) and England (119) have lost 4 points each but maintain their 2nd & 3rd position while South Africa (107) enjoys a 13-point lead over New Zealand (94). Others are West Indies (85), Pakistan (77), Bangladesh (61) and Sri Lanka (47).

The biggest improvement in rankings has been registered by Brazil, which has moved 11 places to 27th position, with a gain of 15 rating points, while the biggest ranking fall is for Malaysia, down from 31st to 38th.

Three teams have lost their place on the rankings table. Denmark and Belgium have not played any matches since October 2017 while Qatar has played less than required during the period.
