New Delhi: Former off-spinner Harbhajan Singh and the current MP of the Aam Admi Party has voiced out his strong opinions against the current chief minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee and her lackadaisical attitude at handling the entire situation of RG Kar.
In a long and elaborate post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the former Indian cricketer called out for “systematic change” which includes changes in the ‘deeply rooted issues’. Furthermore, Bhajji added, “The fact that such an atrocity could occur within the premises of a medical institution, a place dedicated to healing and saving lives, is both shocking and unacceptable.”
With deep anguish over delay in justice to the Kolkata rape and murder victim, the incident which had shaken the conscience of all of us, I have penned a heartfelt plea to the Hon'ble Chief Minister of West Bengal , Ms. @MamataOfficial Ji and Hon'ble @BengalGovernor urging them… pic.twitter.com/XU9SuYFhbY

Harbhajan also said that the reason behind vehement protests from the doctors who have taken over the streets is that there has been no development on the entire investigation of the entire case that currently is handled by the CBI. According to Singh, the doctors only want one thing which is to get justice as soon as possible. Naturally, seeing the case getting delayed unnecessarily, things are spiralling out in the City of Joy.
Furthermore, Harbhajan added that “The governments must implement comprehensive measures to prevent such occurrences in the future.” Bhajji’s strength of solidarity for the protestors is commendable. However, the solidarity stance looks ‘Politically Motivated’ rather than the ‘social cause’. The incident happened on 9 August which is almost a week earlier. Naturally, in this case, the common question is where was Bhajji all this time.
