IPL franchise owner Kaviya Maran gets marriage proposal on field, VIDEO is viral

New Delhi: Kaviya Maran, the co-owner of Indian Premiere League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad was in for a pleasant surprise as a cricket fan from South Africa came forward with a marriage proposal for her, during the game.

Also, dubbed as IPL’s mystery girl, she regularly visits the stands and cheers for her team in T20 encounters. Kaviya Maran is the daughter of Sun Network owner Kalanithi Maran and co-owner of T20 league Sunrisers franchises. The South African cricket fan waved his marriage proposal, written on a placard, during the Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s match against Paarl Royals in Paarl January 19.

The incident happened on January 19 when the 30-year-old was cheering from the stands and supporting Sunrisers Eastern Cape, a sister franchise of Sunrisers Hyderabad.


A video of the South African fan, displaying his love & marriage proposal for the IPL franchise co-owner has gone viral on social media platforms. The video was in fact shared by league’s official Twitter account.

The cameras recorded the bizarre proposal, after 8th over of Paarl Royals innings. The South African cricket fan was sitting on grass and waving a placard that caught the attention & focus of cameras.

His placard had these words written which read, “KAVYA MARAN, WILL YOU MARRY ME?” with a heart emoji.

Talking about team’s prospects, the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, whom Kaviya was rooting for, has ranked at 2nd spot with 12 points in the points table. Their next match is scheduled against Joburg Super Kings in Gqeberha on Saturday, January 21.
