Ravichandran Ashwin breaks one more record, this time equals the record of…

New Delhi: Veteran off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is a man on a mission as he is breaking one record after another in the recently concluded Bangladesh Test series. The men in blue earlier clinched a 2-0 series whitewash against Bangladesh. One of the main architects of India’s resounding victory against the Bangla Tigers was Ashwin who bamboozled the Bangladeshi batsmen on a turning track of Kanpur pitch.

Subsequently, Ravichandran Ashwin got the Player of the Series award for the way he played against the Bangladeshi team. Ashwin also went on to match a world record, held by Sri Lanka great Muttiah Muralitharan in Test cricket. Ravichandran Ashwin and Muttiah Muralitharan are currently level equal on a list which comprises many greats.


Interestingly, if Ashwin can go one better than the current tally, the Indian off-spinner will be able to topple the record of the Sri Lankan off-spinner to go to the top. Ashwin reflected on his contribution to the team as he said in the post-match that-

Meanwhile, Ravichandran Ashwin also became the first cricketer in the 147 years of Test cricket to score more than twenty 50+ scores and more than 30 five-wicket hauls.
