New Delhi: A tall and versatile spinner who can bamboozle batsmen with his witty carrom balls, Ravi Ashwin is reaching the twilight of his glittering career. The right-arm off-spinner already retired from white-ball cricket and is only playing the longest format of the game. However, given the age factor of Ashwin, how long can the Indian off-spinner continue?
The 37-year off-spinner however has a different opinion about the entire issue. Ashwin is still optimistic that he has a lot to give back to the game of cricket.
There is nothing like that in my mind. I am only thinking about one day at a time because when you get older, you have to put in extra effort every single day. It’s not the same. I have put in a lot of effort in the last 3-4 years. I haven’t decided (retirement), but the day I feel that today I don’t want to improve, I will leave. That’s all…..
When asked about his plans to retire from the game, the off-spinner replied very cheekily that he would hang his boots the day he loses his love for the game. Ashwin will be one of the mainstays of the Indian attack when it comes to the spin department.
