New Delhi: Mayank Yadav, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana find themselves in a peculiar position as they stare at a possibility where their capped status might be scrapped. All the players have been drafted into the side for the upcoming India vs Bangladesh T20 series.

The three cricketers were included in the squad and there is a chance that the team can opt for young talents to test their bench strength in this three-match series. According to the new retention rules of IPL, the BCCI has allowed franchises to retain a maximum of 6 players out of which 1 player has to be uncapped.
Each team have until 5 PM IST on October 31, 2024, to submit their full lists with the mega auction reportedly taking place towards the end of November. Interestingly, there is a slight twist to the retention rules for the uncapped players which states-
It may be noted that for retention purposes, any player who gets capped on or before October 31, 2024, will be considered a capped player…
As a result, all three players have a possibility of losing their capped status.
New match fees for players…
Meanwhile, there is also a new development in Indian cricket as the current ICC chairman announced a fixed match fee of Rs 7.50 lakh for all the players selected players who will be playing in the IPL league matches.

Furthermore, a fixed salary purse of Rs 12.60 crore in addition to the auction cum retention purse of Rs 120 crore will have to be kept by the franchises for next season.
