Virat Kohli creates this historic milestone as he becomes the first batsman to…

Virat Kohli has scripted yet another beautiful story as he became the first-ever cricketer to score 3,000 runs in both ODI and T20I World Cups.

New Delhi: India’s no. 1 batsman Virat Kohli has scripted yet another beautiful story in the cricketing books as he became the first-ever cricketer to score 3,000 runs in both ODI and T20I World Cups. Kohli achieved this milestone during the recent game against Bangladesh.

Virat has a massive run drought in this year’s T20I WC. This is very strange for a batsman who has been the Player of the Tournament of T20 WC in 2014 and 2016 and who has scored more than 800 runs in this year’s IPL.

However, things have started to tilt in favour of Bangladesh as he finally found his footing against the “Bangla Tigers”. Virat’s 37 off 28 showed a lot of promise on the crease. Kohli’s brief stint on the crease had 1 four and 3 sixes with a strike rate of 132.14.

Kohli’s T20 career in a nutshell…

Virat is the leading run-scorer of the ICC T20 World Cup across various editions. With a whopping 1,207 runs from 32 matches and 30 innings at an average of 63.52 and a strike rate of 129.78, the Indian batter is leading the pack. Furthermore, Kohli has 14 half-centuries to his name and has the best score of 89 not out in the same format.

Kohli’s best T20I WC Campaign was the 2014 WC where he scored 319 runs from 6 matches at an average of 106.33 and a strike rate of 129.15. However, in 2024, so far the campaign has been a blemish on the historic record of the 2014 campaign.

Kohli’s start to the 2024 T20 World Cup campaign has been horrendous as the 35-year-old failed to find the perfect footing. Against Ireland, Pakistan and the USA, Kohli has failed to find even double digits against his name. Nevertheless, the performance that he displayed against Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be a relief to all the supporters and backroom staff. Virat is finding his form slowly but surely and will be the key against Australia in the next Super 8 match.
