New Delhi: In a significant face-off against the Aussies in Mohali on Tuesday, the Indian cricket squad had an underwhelming night as they faced defeat against Australia in the first T20I.
Rohit Sharma-led squad failed to mark the match despite putting up a decent score of 208/6, as the ‘men in yellow’ team reached the target with ease in 19.2 overs.
The Indian side was left frustrated due to the weak performance by the bowlers, as they desperately kept waiting for wickets till the end of the match.
At one point, an annoyed Sharma jokingly choked Dinesh Karthik as he made multiple mistakes in the crucial game.
Here’s what happened
In the first T20 match against Australia, Rohit Sharma provided Karthik with a chance instead of Rishabh Pant in the playing XI. However, Karthik’s back-to-back mistakes in the match left his fellow teammates desperate. Only Axar Patel bowled the best for India as he dismissed Aaron Finch in the early moments. Though, when Steve Smith was caught in the middle of the stumps by Yuzvendra Chahal, Karthik did not appeal for LBW.

About the match

The men in blue squad had to pay the brunt of poor bowling form by facing defeat by 4 wickets.
