New Delhi: In the consequential series against England, India wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant not only made a stunning return to the fields of white-ball cricket but scored an impressive maiden century, leading his squad to win the game by 5 wickets.
Skipper Hardik Pandya at 72/4 was joined in by Pant, as the partnership went for a 133-run stand with the latter touching his golden three-digit mark in the coloured clothing.
Rishabh was picked as the player of the match for his staggering play of 125 runs off 113 balls, and was awarded a medal and a bottle of champagne as per the tradition in England.
Much to the amazement of audience present in the stadium, Pant walked over to Ravi Shastri’s side, who was in the commentary team for Sky Sports broadcaster, after he was over with his post-match monologue.
Pant met with former India head coach Shastri and offered him the champagne bottle, leaving the crowds at the stand amused. Shastri was seen having a brief chat with the latter, accpeting the champagne and putting it at his side as he continued with his commentary.
