Kulbhushan Jadhav Family

The ICJ in July had asked Pakistan to comply with the Vienna Conventions and provide consular access to Jadhav and to ensure "effective review and reconsideration of his conviction and sentences".

Pakistan on Sunday announced it will grant consular access to the retired Indian Navy officer, who was sentenced to death by a Pakistan military court on the basis of extracted confession of “espionage and terrorism” after a closed trial in April 2017.

Government sources said that Indian Deputy High Commissioner Gaurav Ahluwalia will be meeting with Jadhav. Sources also added that they hope Pakistan ensures the "right atmosphere" for the meeting, keeping with the letter and spirit of the ICJ order.

This comes a month after Pakistan Foreign Office had announced that they would grant consular access to the 49-year-old Indian prisoner. India did not agree to the meeting since the terms and conditions were not suitable.
