"Congress talks about abolishing sedition law but on coming back to power, the BJP will make it so stringent that no one would dare to act against it," the home minister said addressing an election rally

The union home minister put the blame on the Congress for defaming the country on the international platform but added that the party was a failure and it was apparent by the recent happenings.

Lucknow BJP candidate Rajnath Singh expressed confidence about BJP getting a full majority and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will get a second term. Rajnath Singh's son Pankaj Singh also cast his votes at a polling booth in Lucknow.

As polling began for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections in 51 constituencies spread across seven states, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha, BSP chief Mayawati were among those who turned up early to cast their votes.

BJP spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao said, "MHA's notice to Rahul Gandhi is based on information provided by Rahul himself. Gandhi's company gave information on his British citizenship."

"The NDA will get two-third majority in the country," Singh, who was in Varanasi, told ANI.

The Home Minister also said that the Prime Minister had assured that every paise earmarked for the welfare of the people reaches the common man.

The party's official Twitter handle also carried a picture showing Poonam Sinha joining the party in the presence of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav, an MP from Kannauj.
