India has maintained that its constitutional decisions on Kashmir is its internal matter -- a stance that has been supported by many countries around the world.
India has repeatedly stressed that its decision to abrogate Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir is entirely a matter of its internal affairs. Pakistan, on the other hand, has tried making an issue out of it on the international platform, but to little avail.
In the wake of India's decision, Pakistan has also urged the international community, including groups such as the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, to interfere in the matter and called for restraint against the so-called "illegal aggression" of New Delhi in the region.
Just hours before the Jaishankar-Pompeo meeting here, Trump in Washington once again offered to mediate but said this time that it is up to India and Pakistan on mediation and that he is ready to assist if both the neighbouring countries wanted him to solve the matter.
