Who is Sriram Krishnan, desi techie ‘assisting’ Elon Musk with changes at Twitter

New Delhi: After firing some top Indian techies from the Twitter Board including CEO Parag Agrawal, billionaire Elon Musk is getting aided by another desi techie named Sriram Krishnan in the transition & bringing the ‘desired changes’.

Sriram Krishnan is an Indian-American engineer and has taken up the job of assisting Elon Musk temporarily. The Indian-born techie himself took to Twitter to inform that he along with team of ‘some great people’ are on job to bring about the changes.

Who is Sriram Krishnan?

‘Chief Twit’ Elon Musk roped in Srirram, just days after buying Twitter for $ 44 billion and firing some of top Indian techies who helmed the micro-blogging website.

Krishnan is associated with a venture capital firm named Andreessen Horowitz (or a16z) and Twitter comes as an additional assignment to him.

Clearing the air on barrage of rumours, he clarified that he won’t be leaving his current job and also he was not in line to take up the next CEO job at Twitter.

What will Krishnan do at Twitter?

Krishnan, roped in the core team, has a history of working with Twitter. He was associated with Twitter in 2017-19 and was heading its consumer product team and reports suggest that the social media company also registered phenomenal growth in this period.

Krishnan has been sharing regular updates about company’s verification process getting revamped and also about its strict adherence to policies on hateful content.

Though, the details of his role are mostly sketchy but market watchers have enough to speculate about his role. Many are of the view that Krishnan will facilitate the expansion of crypto currency on Twitter. Krishnan, himself being crypto subscriber and Musk being a digital currency buff himself, reports suggest the Indian techie may closely work to unite crypto currency with Twitter.

Sriram Krishnan is a graduate from SRM Engineering college, Anna University in Information Technology. He and his wife Aarthi Ranamurthy host a popular podcast – the GoodTime show.

In previous stints, Krishnan has worked with Microsoft, Facebook and Snapchat. Krishnan worked with Facebook & Snap for a brief period. He quit Facebook in 2016 and joined Snapchat’s parent company Snap to give firepower to its advertising campaign. However, both these stints were short-lived.
