Pak Supreme Court returns appeal against conviction of former Pak PM Imran Khan

New Delhi: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan remains disqualified from contesting elections after court rejected his plea to suspend earlier conviction. The decision comes a day before the deadline to submit nomination papers for elections. Imran Khan was sentenced to three years in jail and imposed a fine of Rs 100,000. The former Pakistan Prime Minister was disqualified from holding any public office for five years. The former Pak Prime Minister also filed a petition against Islamabad High Court’s order in the Toshakhana case. Imran Khan is accused of misusing his powers as a Prime Minister to purchase and sell gifts in state’s possession that he received during his abroad visits.
