BCCI Head Coach: Gautam’s longterm plans does not include three to four players namely…

Gambhir wants full control over all the cricketing operations under the ambit of Team India as well as a separate Test team.

New Delhi: Gautam Gambhir in all likelihood is set to succeed Rahul Dravid as the next head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team. After the successful mentorship stints with both Lucknow Super Giants and the Kolkata Knight Riders, the 42-year-old looks all set to take on the charge of his country.

Gautam was put through a gruelling session of interviews alongside fellow countryman WV Raman. However, Gauti seems to be the ‘suitable candidate’ to succeed Dravid according to the authorities. Interestingly, the 42-year-old had not even filled out the application within the stipulated time of the BCCI. Even then he was considered for the job and was given a green signal.

However, Gautam has put some ‘conditions’ in front of the authorities if he were to succeed Dravid. According to the 41-year-old Gambhir’s conditions will help the team structure better according to his dictates.

What are the conditions put forth by Gautam Gambhir?

Gauti has come out with a few conditions which have triggered a new social media outrage amongst the fans. These conditions are:

  1. Gambhir wants full control over all the cricketing operations under the ambit of Team India.
  2. Gautam wants a complete revamp of the support staff and choose his ‘own men’. Currently, Vikram Rathour is the batting coach Paras Mhambhrey is the bowling coach and T Dilip is the fielding coach.
  3. Gambhir’s third condition has triggered a special outrage amongst the fans and supporters of Indian cricket. According to Gambhir’s wish, three senior players namely Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami from the side if they fail to deliver promising results in the upcoming 2025 ICC Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan.
  4. Gautam wants a separate team for the Test given the differences across formats and the skill sets required in ODI and T20Is.
  5. Gambhir’s last wish is a long-term roadmap for the 2027 ODI World Cup which needs to be executed as soon as possible.

With so many dark clouds hovering over this transition of India into a new era, only time will tell how the joyride with GG turns out.
