BCCI Head Coach 2024: What were the three questions BCCI asked Gautam Gambhir?

After lots of speculations and rumours hovering around the BCCI Head coach position, the authorities have somewhat finalised 2 names.

New Delhi: After lots of speculations and rumours hovering around the BCCI Head coach position, the authorities have somewhat finalised 2 names. One is Kolkata Knight Rider’s fiery mentor and former Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir. The second candidate who has been considered for the post is WV Raman who was the former coach of the Indian Women’s cricket team.

The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) called Gambhir for the virtual interview while Raman was called for an in-person offline interview. Offline or online, the CAC ensured a grilling session! The authorities know the kind of responsibilities and the immense pressure India’s coaching responsibility brings with itself. Naturally, they went accordingly with the interview session.

Tough calls for Gauti and Raman!

According to the popular sports media outlet RevSportz, both Raman and Gauti were asked some tough questions in the interview with the CAC. These were:

1. What are your ideas regarding the coaching staff of the team?

2. With a few ageing players in both the batting and bowling departments, how will you handle the transition phase?

3. What are your views on split captaincy, fitness parameters concerning workload management, and addressing the team’s failure to win ICC trophies?

Interestingly, Gambhir was considered fit for the job even after not meeting the application deadline of BCCI. After the meteoric shift that he brought in the teams that he mentored- Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders, the authorities decided to give the Indian batsman a shot at the coaching responsibilities. Gambhir has been donned as the ‘ideal candidate’ according to the authorities

Seen as a competition, WV Raman has surprisingly wished the former Indian batsman the best of luck! if he gets selected for the same. “I’ve always rated Gautam Gambhir as one of the best captains in the IPL. He’s always been intense and tactically sound. His success comes purely from his own efforts….”
