New Delhi: Diwali and Dhanteras is just round the corner and preprations to celebrate the festival is in full swing. According to Drik Panchag, Dhanteras or Dhantrayodashi is the first day of five days long Diwali festivities.

On the day of Dhantrayodashi or Dhanteras, Goddess Lakshmi is said to have come out of the ocean during the churning of the Milky Sea.

So on the ocassion of Dhanteras, Goddess Lakshm and Lord Kubera is worshipped on the auspicious day of Trayodashi.

The Hindu festival,  Dhanteras is also celebrated as Dhanwantari Triodasi or Dhanvantri Jayanti-the birth anniversary of the God of Ayurveda.

When is Dhanteras 2022 and when is it celebrated?

With Dhnateras, the Diwali celebrations kicks off and ends with Bhai Dooj. Two days befor the festival of lights-Dhanteras is celebrated.

This year, the festival of Diwali will be celebrated on October 24 (Monday).

When is Dhanteras 2022 on October 22 or 23?

Like other festivals, there is a confusion regarding the Dhanteras dates this year. While some say that Dhanteras will be celebrated on October 23, while others say it is on October 22.

If we go through the Drik Panchang, Dhanteras will be celebrated on October 22 (Saturday).

Dhanteras 2022: Rituals, puja vidhi

Dhanteras puja is done in the evening. On this day, Goddess Lakshmi is worshipped. “Katha” of Dhanteras is recited and the whole house is lit up with diyas.

During the festival of Dhanteras and Diwali people clean therir houses and decorate them as they welcome Goddess Lakshmi on Diwali.
