Boycott Hyundai trends on Twitter after it supported Kashmir’s freedom

Following the hashtag started gaining the attention of Indian citizens, Hyundai’s India branch issued an official statement to clarify its stance on the matter.

New Delhi: Indian citizens have started demanding to boycott Hyundai on Twitter on Sunday. The demand under the hashtag of boycott Hyundai has been started because of the controversial post of Hyundai Pakistan related to Kashmir. Hyundai Pakistan shared the post from its official social media handle on Saturday i.e February 5.

However, the post has now been deleted by the company.

In the post, Hyundai Pakistan showed its support for the struggle for freedom among Kashmiri in India. The post read, ”Let us remember the sacrifices of our Kashmiri brothers and stand in support as they continue to struggle for freedom.”

The day Hyundai Pakistan shared the post, it is celebrated as the ‘Kashmir Solidarity Day’ in Pakistan. It reportedly marks the support and unity of Kashmiri separatists’ effort to secede from India.

Following the hashtag started gaining the attention of Indian citizens, the company’s India branch issued an official statement to clarify its stance on the matter.

”India is the second home to the Hyundai brand and we have a zero-tolerance policy towards insensitive communication and we strongly condemn any such view,” said Hyundai India in the statement.

Besides Hyundai, a tweet from Kia Motors Crossroads – Hyderabad which has 28 followers on Twitter also said, ”We stand United for the freedom of Kashmir.”

The account, @KiaCrossroads, does not seem to be official as it does not have Bluetick.
