MS Dhoni bought this rare vintage Land Rover car via online auction; Know all about it

The auction held by Big Boy Toyz sold Dhoni a 1971 Land Rover Series Stantion Wagon, which is currently on its way to his Ranchi residence

New Delhi: Ace cricketer and former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s love for bikes and cars is widely known since the early days of his career. In fact, his impressive automobile collection from over the years includes a Ferrari, a Kawasaki Ninja H2, and what not.

Well, a new addition to this generous collection has recently taken place as Dhoni won the bid for a rare vintage car in an online auction.

The digital auction held by Big Boy Toyz sold Dhoni a 1971 Land Rover Series Stantion Wagon, which is currently on its way to his Ranchi residence.

# The Land Rover Series wagon that Dhoni has won the bid for is quite a rare car. The popular vehicle comes in a dual-tone finish of mustard and white. A British auto company had manufactured over 440,000 units of this car between 1971 – 1985.

# At first the car had only a few engine options including including a 2.3-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a 3.5-litre V8, along with four-speed manual transmission and a two-speed manual transfer case.

# The auction held by Big Boy Toys also included other admirable vehicles such as Volkswagen Beetle, for which the bidding reportedly started from a minimal amount of Rs 1 lakh and went upto Rs 25 lakhs.

# A total of 20 such cars were auctioned through online bidding in the digital event including Austins, Mercedes, Buicks, Chevrolets, Cadillacs, and Rolls Royces among others.
