Now, order food on trail via WhatsApp; IRCTC partners with Reliance

The chatbot will self-verify the details and allow the commuters to choose the restaurant from which they wish their food to be delivered

New Delhi: The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation’s (IRCTC) food service Zoop has partnered with Haptik, owned by Reliance Industries, and is set to provide meals to the passengers through messaging app WhatsApp.

As a result of his fresh partnership, commuters would not be required to download a separate app and can order food via a chatbot on WhatsApp.

Interestingly, it would be like any other food delivery service wherein an individual will only have to enter their PNR number to place the order and the food will be made available to the respective seats of passengers.

The latest service is also real-time tracking and the customers can track the status of their orders online.

According to a video uploaded by Haptik on YouTube, the Railway’s catering service Zoop has partnered with the firm to initiate a WhatsApp-based food delivery service in the trains. The service would allow passengers to choose and order food from its partner restaurants while travelling on the train.

Further, commuters can also connect to a chatbot called Ziva through a phone number provided by IRCTC – +91 7042062070, and would have to put in their travelling details in order to register their food orders.

The chatbot will self-verify the details and allow the commuters to choose the restaurant from which they wish their food to be delivered. The passengers will also have an option to pay for the service online as well as in cash.

As per news agency PTI, the service is currently  operational at over 100 A1, A, and B category railway stations including Kanpur, Vijayawada, Baroda, and Tundla Junction.
