First look of Vande Bharat’s sleeper coaches revealed, check PICs here

The new coaches are reportedly to be functional from early 2024.

New Delhi: Since its launch on February 15, 2019, Vande Bharat Express has been the focal point of talks amongst train lovers.

The railway ministry launched a perfect, fully specs-loaded train in the form of Vande Bharat, but they are always trying to make the services of this premium train better every day, with new facilities and models launching at regular intervals.

Once again, the railway ministry has decided to take the Vande Bharat express services to one more level up by introducing sleeper mode coaches, giving the Vande Bharat lovers another reason to celebrate.

What are the additional facilities?

The main reason for launching Vande Bharat was to provide speedy journeys to the passengers, but the routes of the initial Vande Bharat trains were kept short distances as the train only had chair cars, which in long journeys could end up causing discomfort for the passengers, but with the new sleeper coaches journeys can be longer and more comfortable at the same time. The trains can now run for longer distances with overnight journeys, which passengers can enjoy while lying down in their comfortable sleeper seats.

If the early reports are to be believed, the new coaches that will be used in Vande Bharat will be an upgraded version of the existing coaches in other trains, with much wider seats and free spaces and also, at the same time, some much highly functioned well-equipped train toilets.

Vande metro

Along with the long-distance services, the ICF is also planning to create a new ‘Vande metro’ project specializing in shorter routes. The Vande metro trains will have 12 coaches and will give the short-distance journeys a new look, with faster and more comfortable commutes for the daily passengers.

Along with their new train plans, the ICF is also adding new features to the existing Vande Bharat trains that include, ’14 minutes clean up,’ a function based on the Japanese bullet train’s 7-minute clean-up scheme in which the whole coach will be cleaned within 14 minutes ensuring a much more hygienic mode of travelling.

More trains

Nine semi-high-speed Vande Bharat Express trains are about to make their debut on a variety of routes as the Vande Bharat family grows. In the creation of these trains, the ICF is actively involved. Five of the nine Vande Bharat trains have preliminary routes identified. These routes include the Indore-Jaipur Vande Bharat Express, the Jaipur-Udaipur Vande Bharat Express, the Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express, the Patna-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, and the Jaipur-Chandigarh Vande Bharat Express. The Southern Railways’ remaining routes have not yet been decided upon.
