Hinduja Group’s Chairman SP Hinduja passes away at 87

He was the eldest of the four Hinduja brothers and was reportedly unwell for some time.

New Delhi: Srichand Parmanand Hinduja, the Chairman of Hinduja Group passed away in London at the age of 87. He was the eldest of the four Hinduja brothers and was reportedly unwell for some time. The Hinduja family released a statement to announce the demise of SP Hinduja and his brothers Gopichand, Prakash, and Ashok paid the condolences.

SP Hinduja was the eldest son of Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja, the founder of the conglomerate. He completed his education in 1952 and joined his father in the business.

He was among one of the most prominent and influential NRI businessmen contributing to the Indian economy and earning in the Indian market. He was known to have held the belief of a free market for a better and inclusive society. SP Hinduja also founded the IndusInd Bank, a new-generation private bank in India.

Apart from the Hinduja Group, he was also the chairman of Hinduja Bank of Switzerland and Hinduja Foundations. His brother Gopichand is the co-chairman of the conglomerate, Prakash is the chairman of Hinduja Group (Europe) and Ashok is the chairman of Hinduja Group of Companies (India).

Along with his brothers, Mr. Srichand is survived by his wife Madhu and two daughters, Shanu and Vinoo.
